The Landscape Analysis provides the spatial and environmental foundation for planning renewable energy interventions that respect each island’s ecological, cultural, and territorial character.
Renewable energy systems require space and on Mediterranean islands, space is limited and deeply intertwined with natural values, cultural landscapes, and local identity.
The Landscape Analysis evaluates where and how Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) can be integrated into the territory without compromising ecosystem services or visual quality.
Using harmonised geographical datasets and spatial multi criteria analysis, this activity identifies areas with high suitability and capacity for renewable energy deployment. It transforms complex territorial information into actionable insights that guide both technical modelling and participatory scenario building.
