AskyourcitizenonCaN captures how citizens perceive climate neutrality, and the changes needed for a sustainable future. It transforms public opinions into actionable insights that guide island decarbonisation pathways.

Achieving climate neutrality is not only a technical challenge, it is a social one.

AskyourcitizenonCaN is one of the citizen engagement pillar of the CO2 PACMAN project, designed to understand community awareness, readiness, and willingness to support the transition toward climate neutrality. 

Through statistic survey and Vox Populi interviews, this activity offers a scientifically rigorous and socially grounded portrait of how Mediterranean island communities view climate change, decarbonisation policies, renewable energy, and behavioural change.

Objectives

  • Understand Climate Awareness - Measure knowledge of climate change, climate neutrality, and perceived risks
  • Assess Social Readiness - Identify willingness to adopt behavioural changes, support policies, or join initiatives
  • Support Inclusive Transition Pathways - Ensure that decarbonisation measures align with public expectations, concerns, and motivations.

 

How It Works

Using a structured, locally adapted methodology developed by the University of Siena, AskyourcitizenonCaN conducts face to face, stratified sampling interviews tested in Brač, Crete, and Elba.

 

Outputs

AskyourcitizenonCaN produces:

✔ Statistical Data
Awareness levels, behavioural trends, policy acceptance, readiness for change.

✔ Citizen Survey Results 
Creation of a report and a dedicated web platform "AskYourCitizenonCaN" summarising results, visualisation, and interpretation

✔ Qualitative Insights
Stories, emotions, expectations captured through Vox Populi interviews.
